About Carolina Homeschooler

Carolina Homeschooler was created in 2004 to increase communication and support for South Carolina's third option homeschoolers. We started out as a support group, then began coordinating group trips, and now provide membership services to SC homeschoolers as mandated by Section 59-65-47 of the SC Code of Laws.

Our membership services focus on providing an interactive online community for students and parents. We offer optional educational workshops, contests, projects, classes, and field trips that encourage a collaborative learning environment for students, as well as a supportive community for parents. Whether you need us only for third option coverage, or want to participate fully in our online (and offline) community, we hope you'll consider joining us for the 2013-2014 school year.

Membership is not required for homeschoolers in other states and Canada who want to join us for most of our longer group trips and camps (Washington DC, New York City, Disney World, Space Camp, Fort Caswell, etc.).

For information about homeschooling in South Carolina, please read through my Frequently Asked Questions. If you need to learn more about beginning homeschooling, different methods, favorite resources, and the typical day-to-day experiences and schedules of homeschooling families, you may find my guide, Homeschooling Essentials: A Practical Guide to Getting Started, helpful.
