Blue Ridge Mountains Camp

What we're doing...
We're heading to Black Mountain, NC, to hike trails, climb towers, test our skills in archery, do crafts, listen to Cherokee storytellers around a campfire, learn about Appalachian wildlife, square dance to the music of a live bluegrass band, and more!

This is a 4-day/3-night camp (similar to our Fort Caswell camp), with meals and activities provided starting with dinner on Thursday evening through breakfast on Sunday morning. Coffee (Starbucks) will be provided at various times throughout our stay, but you'll pay for it separately.

All ages are welcome (including grandparents). Homeschoolers from other states (and Canada) are also welcome to join us.

Cost and what's included...
The cost will depend on the total in your party, the ages of your children, and how many rooms you need.

Estimates are as follows (these estimates are for the whole family, not each person in the family):

Family of two: $533 for members, $553 for non-members
Family of three: $642 for members, $672 for non-members
Family of four: $796 for members, $836 for non-members
Family of five: $950* for members, $1000* for non-members
Family of six: $1059** for members, $1119** for non-members

*Total for family in one room. We'll have two queen beds, so bring a sleeping bag, inflatable mattress, etc. for the floor if you need extra space.

**Total for family in one room. There's room for two small children on the floor. If you think you'll need more space, get two rooms (extra $225 total for the entire stay).

(Please note your rooming preferences on your registration form.)

For larger families, add together the estimate for a family of four above, to that of a family of two, or three, or four (the total in your family) to get your estimate.

These estimates include your registration fee, lodging, activities, and meals. Meals start with dinner on Thursday and end with breakfast on Sunday. Activities begin at 1:00 pm on Thursday, and will end by noon on Sunday.

Our rooms have two queen beds and are similar to hotel rooms, but don't have phones, televisions, internet, microwaves, refrigerators, or other extras.

Note: They have some cribs, cots, and roll-away beds, but it's first-come, first-served, so it would be best to bring your own. If you're flying in, let me know and I'll see if I can reserve something for you.

Rooms in the conference center are limited and will be assigned first-registered, first-served. Overflow families will be lodged in a nearby building.

If you have food allergies or a strict diet, please note it on your registration form. There will be a variety of foods to choose from, and you'll receive a menu with items highlighted that you should not eat. If you have multiple allergies or issues, they'll provide refrigeration for your use (this is only done in extreme cases).

Families will be responsible for their own transportation. For those flying into Asheville, NC, a company will provide transfer service for $45 each way for up to four people. They'll also give discounts for larger families and families they can transport together. (I'll help you connect with each other closer to our dates to arrange for transfers.)

If it's less expensive to fly into Greenville/Spartanburg or Charlotte, they'll also transfer from there. (The cost will be higher, and the transfer time longer.)

If you're driving to this event, and you wouldn't mind picking up a family at a nearby airport along the way, please let me know.

Cancellations and refunds...
Payments are refundable only if I have a family on my waiting list to replace you, and a $25 per person cancellation fee will be deducted from all refunds. No replacements, roster changes, or refunds will be made after April 30, 2014.

Your signed registration form and payment acknowledges that you understand and agree with my cancellation and refund policy.

Important Notes
This trip is confirmed. The final registration deadline is April 10.

Full payment is due within 7 days of my registration confirmation email. Please don't register until you can make full payment.

I accept checks, bank checks, and BillPay (through your bank). I can't accept PayPal or credit cards (credit card checks are fine).

If you have five or six in your family, remember to note on your registration if you want one room or two (or more).

Please list any special health and dietary needs on your registration form.

Homeschoolers in other states (and Canada, and beyond) are welcome to join us.

A refund is not guaranteed if you cancel. Please read and understand my refund policy before you register and mail your payment.

This trip will be cancelled if we don't meet our minimum. If I cancel for any reason, you'll receive a refund of money you've paid to me. Please don't book non-refundable airfare (if you're planning to fly in) until I confirm the trip.

If you have any doubts about the legitimacy of Carolina Homeschooler, please join my community and ask for references before registering. Don't send money to anyone on the internet if you don't trust them.
