Reports of Past Trips
We
started out in 2006 offering trips to Washington
DC, the USS Yorktown (in Charleston, SC), and
Disney World to families in the Carolinas. Each
year we've expanded our offerings and
homeschoolers from all over the United States
and Canada have joined us, making our trips even
more varied and enjoyable.
If you want a better idea of what our trips are like, click on the links to the left for reports of past trips, and a summary of feedback I've received from the families who participated.
Most are of the links are self-explanatory. Overnight camps include (so far) reports of our USS Yorktown Camps and SC Museum Camp-In. Multi-day camps have their own listing. Day trips include field trips and exhibits such as the Mummies Exhibit at Discovery Place, and the upcoming Knights baseball game and picnic.
If you want to see pictures of past trips, please friend me on Facebook and look at my photo albums. I have pictures from many of my trips, but not all. (Sorry... I'm over 40 and sometimes forget my camera!) I no longer post pictures on my website because it's very time-consuming to format them. I'd rather spend my time planning more trips!
If you want information about upcoming trips, and other Carolina Homeschooler events, subscribe to my mailing list. We try to post details about our bigger trips at least a year in advance so you'll have plenty of time to plan.
If you have a suggestions for future trips, please email me and I'll put them on my list.
Fundraising
Most of the trips you're reading about have benefited from fundraising money. Our projects include Box Tops for Education, an association with Amazon.com, and other website and newsletter advertising.
All of the money generated from these programs (less any taxes due) goes toward our trips and has helped tremendously with unexpected costs, non-refundable deposits, and advanced reservation fees.
Everyone benefits from our fundraising money, regardless of whether or not they participate (as long as generous homeschoolers continue to help us out), but I don't apply fundraising money to specific families. The cost listed for each of our trips already includes the fundraising money applied for that trip.
If a trip requires active participation in order to benefit from our funds, it will be stated in the trip's description.
Box Tops for Education are "coupons" found on specific foods, cereal boxes, and other grocery/household products. They're worth .10 each, and can add up quickly when many people contribute. Public schools earn thousands of dollars each year collecting Box Tops. We can, too! For more information about Box Tops for Education and a list of participating products, visit their website. To choose Carolina Homeschooler as your school, type in 29721 for the zip code and then choose Carolina Homeschooler. Please mail your Box Tops to Carolina Homeschooler, PO Box 1421, Lancaster SC 29721.
Our Amazon.com link is available on most of my website pages (look for the brown box). When you click on the box, it will take you to Amazon's website (you'll see our code "carolinhomesc" in the URL).
Please email me if you have any questions or suggestions for fundraising projects. We welcome all the help we can get!
