Culture and Heritage Museum Summer Camps
Looking for action, adventure, and mystery this summer? Registration
is now open for CHM summer camps -- Critter Camp, Time Travelers,
Junior Explorers, Nature Detectives, River Rats, and Quest Camp.
They're held in June and July in various locations around York

Taiwanese Dancers
Authentic native dancers from Taiwan will be in Columbia for a free
performance on Saturday, May 8 at GlenForest School in West Columbia
(just off I-26). Taiwanese artifacts, crafts, music, and art will be
on display in the school's front lobby before and after the
performance. The exhibit opens at 2:00 pm, and the dancing begins at
3:00 pm. There is an optional grilled hot dog supper and an entry
for door prize drawings for $5 per person. For more info, please

Homeschool Book Sale and Skate
The Garner Ice House in Garner NC invites you to their Homeschool
Book Sale and Skate on Tuesday, May 13 from 2:30 to 4:15 pm.
Shopping at the book sale will be free, skating will be $5, which
includes skate rental. There will also be sled races, games, prizes
and more for the kids to do while parents shop. For more

Finding Priscilla's Children
The SC State museum invites you to see their new exhibit, Finding Priscilla's Children. This exhibit tells the story of a ten-year-old
African girl, enslaved in Sierra Leone in 1756 and brought to
America where she was renamed Priscilla by her Charlestonian owner.
It also examines the process of how her American and African
families were reunited after more than 200 years of separation. This
exhibit will be available until May 11, 2008. For more information,

Latta Plantation Spring Homeschool Day
Visit Latta Plantation on May 21 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm for a
living history day set aside for homeschoolers of all ages. Enjoy a
Backcountry Carolina Spring as you explore the plantation, tour the
circa 1800 Latta home, and more. Interpreters will demonstrate
natural dyeing, spinning, weaving, open-hearth cooking, woodworking,
firestarting, blacksmithing, rail-splitting, shingle-making, and
gunsmithing. Children can also make crafts cornhusk dolls and paper
butterflies to keep. Admission is $5 per person, ages 4 and under

Excavating Egypt
The Columbia Museum of Art invites homeschoolers to explore their
Excavating Egypt exhibit, on display until June 8. This major
exhibition offers a fascinating view into the lives of both royal
and average Egyptians. Included are ancient objects and artwork from
the earliest periods of Egyptian history to the late Roman period.
The exhibit features more than 200 of archaeologist W. M. Flinders
Petrie's most significant finds - many never before seen by the
public. The objects, hidden away in secret storage facilities
throughout London at the beginning of World War II, have not been

Junior Tennis League
The Junior Tennis League, a team competition for girls and boys from
8-12 (minors) and 13-18 (majors), will play one match a week

Knight Time Reader Program
Medieval Times' Knight Time Reader program is designed to encourage
and promote reading by rewarding students in grades K-8 with free
admission during May 2008. Students in grades K-3 must read 20
books, grades 4-5 must read 10 books, and grades 6-8 must read 5

Tet: The Turning Point of the Vietnam War
The SC State museum invites you to their new exhibit, Tet: The Turning Point of the
Vietnam War. This exhibit marks the 40th
anniversary of the Tet Offensive and will explore the turbulent
events surrounding the biggest single battle of the Vietnam War,
both overseas and on the homefront. It will be
