I am going to be starting homeschooling for the next school year. I am still second guessing myself as to what way to go. I am looking at Sonlight right now it looks good (a little costly I think, maybe not). I like it because it sets it all up for you and I think for my first time maybe that is what I need for my upcoming 2nd grader. We are all very excited, but nervous. I also have a one year old and will have to learn to schedule between them appropriately.
Thanks for your time.

Melissa,

Homeschooling is a wonderful choice for your children. Jump in and watch the learning and fun begin. We have homeschooled for 4 years and there is no turning back. It has turned into a lifestyle for us and we love it.

There are so many choices out there for their education. I personally don't use a complete curriculum but others find it helpful. Don't be afraid to try it and if it doesn't work, don't be afraid to drop it. Ebay had been a great place for us to unload those great curriculums that never worked out.

My first year I struggled with my son and his math book. Daily there would be tears and we both dreaded doing the lessons. I continued because I thought he had to complete that book. I shared my concern with a new friend who had been homeschooling for 15 years. She reminded me of the beauty of homeschooling...you have the ability to find a way to ignite the love of learning. I hadn't yet learned that lesson. My son and I then talked it over and we immediately found a new math curriculum that he helped choose. It hit the spot and now math is an area he excels in.

A great resource that I use frequently is  www.rainbowresource.com. They are a homeschooling family that has a business of selling homeschool products. Complete curriculums to sewing. Request their catalog.... totally awesome! Good luck!
