Hi everyone, we had our spring break last week, and as I was recovering from my ear infection, I realized that we're ready to return to unschooling for a while. I completely unschooled my oldest until he reached the high school years and asked for more direction and structure from me. Once I had more children, it was just easier for me to follow a more eclectic approach (combining elements of unschooling, plus other methods). I needed more structure in my day in order to keep up with everything.
Now I feel that we've swung too far towards the structured end of the spectrum and the children don't have enough time to follow their own interests or to feed and nurture their own passion for learning. That's so, so important, and I know that I need to help them get that passion back. It's been great hearing their ideas about what they want to learn, and how they want to go about doing it. What a wonderful day we've had today! :smile2:
