Just wanted to introduce myself. I am 30 years old, I have a 3 1/2 year old son and have been married 8 years (today!) to a wonderful man. I have a few hobbies outside of my home/son, but mostly I am a stay-at-home mom who is trying to get her bearings about homeschooling. I must say it's a most daunting task!
I'm so gald to be here... see ya around the boards!

Welcome Stephanie!

3 1/2 yo was about the age my oldest was when I learned about homeschooling, she's now 13! One of the best things I did was read, read and read. Go to your library and they should have books on "how-to" homeschool. Just read them all. You have time on your side to really find out all about it. You might consider attending a homeschool convention, there you can meet with homeschool "veterans" and see curriculum hands on. There is one in Sumter in June. I'll re-post the link here.

One thing I suggest is don't listen to "nay-sayers". In my heart I wanted to homeschool my child, but peer pressure from "friends" influenced me to change my mind and wait until middle school. Well.....she went for K and 1st and then I followed my heart and didn't care what others thought or said and we started homeschooling and have never looked back. So my advice for you in your homeschool journey is to "follow your heart". :-)

Stephanie, I apologize for my delay in welcoming you. I just returned from our trip to Washington DC and am now getting caught up. Welcome!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, and for the link to the convention. I am currently part of a small homeschool group here in my hometown, and the ladies there are just great at giving advice, encouragement, etc. I'm so glad I found a board for SC! I will pass it on the others I know. We can all use some others that are on our side of the fence about homeschooling!:biggrin2:
