My dd's dance recital was yesterday. She is 5 and homeschooled. I have been fortunate to be able to stay home since she was born. Needless to say she spends most of her time with me and her older sister. Of course she plays with friends, but it is supervised. She does stay over her grandparents now and then, but has never been away from me for a long period of time like children that go to public school or day care.

The dance studio had their show at one of those professional show theaters in Myrtle Beach. So, when I found out no parents were allowed backstage in the dressing rooms with their little ones, I was concerned how she'd be. Would she cry, would she be upset and scared? We weren't even allowed to walk them into the dressing room, they had to be dropped off at the backstage door and someone from the dance school walked them to the dressing room.

We were allowed to pick them up backstage from the dressing room after the Dress Rehearsal on Friday. The Chaparones in the dressing room had nothing but nice things to say about her. One said she was so polite and so well behaved. The other was so impressed how organized she was and how she knew how her costumes and accessories went together. I was a proud Mommy!!! :biggrin2: Chalk one up to the unsocialized, isolated homeschoolers who don't know how to behave in social situations! LOL!!!

Even my little one was disappointed in the behavior of the girls in the dressing room. She said she "expected that it would be quiet and relaxing." (her words) :smile2: She couldn't believe all the girls running around, being loud and misbehaving.

Anyway.... on Saturday I dropped my unsocialized and isolated homeschooled daughter off at the backstage door and off went Miss Independent straight to her dressing room and she put on a performance of a lifetime!

I don't know what made me prouder, her performance on stage or her performance backstage!
