Public schools around the state will open their doors to students soon. Let's celebrate the fact that our kids won't be going! Share your favorite Not-Back-to-School party ideas in this thread. I'll gather up the names of everyone who posts ideas, let my daughter draw one name out of a hat, and the winner will get to choose one of our great prizes. For a list of prizes, please visit http://www.carolinahomeschooler.com/contests.htm

This contest will end on July 31st.

Warmly,
Dianna

In my area a lot of homeschoolers go to the local park that has a water fountain and spend the day. They are in swim suits and getting sprayed by the fountain. Everyone brings a picnic and talks of forming CO-OP's are aa hot discussion.

Not Back to school parties. I think is a GREAT idea. Our school here starts back in the public schools on August 7. The TV station is having a back to school bash, which you know isnt geared for homeschoolers. I think a trip to the water park for the kids or something kind of geared like a block party would be great. I have 5 acres at my house and would be willing to host provide that if we can get people to help provide, games, and snacks, Hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, potato salad etc. There is a ton of room here for the kids to run around. We have a pool but it is only a small above ground pool. and a fire pit to roast marshmellows etc.

I posted this is the wrong place to start with.. sorry everyone.

 What about a pool party? Participants could rent the pool on Wyle street and split the cost. (I think its about $150 for 2 hours and this includes life guards).

The group I belong to is having a party at the lake area near us. We're going to cook hotdogs with all the fixings, bring balls and frisbees and fishing rods, etc. so everyone can choose whether to swim, fish, or just play on the beach. We'll be having it in a couple of weeks, and we can't wait!

We're having a Not-Back-to-School Pizza Party at our local Pizza Hut. I really like the ideas I've heard here. I'll start planning now for next year! :smile2:
