How do you narrow down the association choices? DH and I looked at a handful and narrowed it down to three - all of which 'seem' like they are the same, but maybe they aren't? Can I post here - I don't want to offend anyone....

How do I become a private school? LOL My sister is thinking of moving here and said she would love for me to be able to - I noticed on one association page (Grace I believe) that I would have to become my own private school in order to do that? Her moving here is very much a huge maybe - but of course better to be prepared!

Last question - does kindergarten really require any curriculum? I admit I haven't started looking at any curriculum yet because we do so much as it is - writing, projects, crafts, learning the basics - that I think I could just stick with what we are doing now? I know I will be a laid back teacher - but I'm thinking my dh wants it to be a school day. We've talked extensively about it and I think he just needs his nerves calmed. Anyway, I figure what we are doing now is fine - and I did see the WorldBook page (http://www.worldbook.com/wb/Students?curriculum/kindergarten) as well.

Thank you. :)

Hi :smile2:

Regarding private school, if you want to teach children other than your own, you'll need to become a private school. If you're really interested, I'll try to find the legislation that explains that. It's a lot of red tape from what I remember. :confused2

I don't use any curriculum for kindergarten. I second you doing what you've been doing up til now. If your dh is a little iffy about it, tell him you'll add a little more structure/curriculum in next year if he still feels your child needs it at the end of this year. Sometimes the dads just need to see homeschooling in action and that it works even without workbooks before they start to relax.

Regarding associations, feel free to private message me with your choices, and I can give you an honest opinion about them. I know it's a little uncomfortable discussing them here in the message boards.

For K-5 I am layed back. I am only going to read books and try to get my guy to sit still. I will use 5 in a row books and informally talk about the books using their guide.
