Hi any families here that homeschool their children that have autism? Our son is 12 and this will be his first year of homeschooling he was in public school for 5 yrs but he was never taught his main learnings in math or reading or writing. So now he will actually begin to learn something where in public school it was more of a do morning work have lunch choice putting a tongue presser in a cup where you eat lunch as school and what you wanted for lunch or whether you brought your lunch which he took his lunch i did not like the schools lunch and it was to high in sugar for him the school lunch our son can have sugar we just limit what he has we all eat less in the meat product area we are all slowly changing to the vegetarian diet. I look forward to making new friends here this yr you all take care and enjoy the rest of your summer, Blessings, Christy Etheredge

Hi christy. my name is Cathy Kahler, my son who will be 12 this month is also Autistic. He has been going to school since 3, as well as our Discreet trials, speech, etc.... He is High functioning. I have been looking into homeschooling for a couple of years. We moved here to Lake wylie, S.C. from south florida a couple of months ago. I was hoping in a small town, people would CARE more. They do, but it's either This or That for my son, nothing in between. The kids are starting to tease him (he's in 6th grade). I have been trying to find a support group for him or me, just something or someone to be "back in the loop" sort of speak. :) . I found this web site last week, and was kinda afraid to post. when I saw your Heading, I jumped at it. Are you homeschooling your son? I am so afraid if I pull my out, his social will go down hill, not that he speaks to anyone in school. I would love to chat, exchange info, or anything. Are you close to Lake wyle area? Looking forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
cathy kahler:rolleyes2
