Has anyone ever done a lapbook? I just found this tonight while searching. It seems sort of like a scrapbook - and actually sort of like how you would format a science fair project board.
I thought they were very interesting - fun, visual, etc. But my daughter is only 5 and I wonder if it would work for us? Of course I would help - but I'm getting that the purpose is for the child to do the work.
I could always modify it - but just wondering if anyone else ever did one? And how it turned out?
(BTW - is a lapbook associated w/ a particular style of homeschooling?)

Yes, don't they look fun?! I think someone posted a link to lapbooks here that had a lot of samples. I think they're used by several different types of homeschoolers - mostly the Charlotte Mason and unit studies crowd. I think they work for any age, and that more parental help with the younger ages is absolutely fine.
Hopefully others who know more about them will jump in here and describe how they use them.

I LOVE LAPBOOKS! They are a great way to show off a unit study. That is how we use them. My boys love them as well. Matter of fact, the most recent lapbook is always what my oldest shows off to guests. I went to a homeschool conference a few years ago and attended a class on lapbooks by Tammy Duby. She wrote a book on how to use and make lapbooks. THe ultimate Lap Book Handbook. I also find Big Book of Books and activities by Dinah Zike another great reference. Have fun!
