Boy everybody must be busy getting settled in, it is the quietest here I have ever seen it.

I found a great link for sc state history, it is mystatehistory.com, if you register they will send you a password and there is a great online textbook there, powerpoint presentations and worksheets and stuff.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Thanks for that link. I just sent off for my password. My DD is in 6th grade but I figure the 8th grade stuff will have something we can use.

Our school is going good so far. I think my only problem at this point is... am I doing enough? I think it's just those first year jitters! lol!

Some of us were away at Disney World. I thought I would have internet access while I was gone, but didn't bring the right equipment to connect. I missed all of you!

sara, i am still feeling that.. i feel lots of times like my boys arent learning anything.. i am still having first year jitters and i started last jan. Justin still isnt picking up on the reading thing.. I am soo soo worried about that. I dont think i am a very good teacher sometimes. My oldest is doing us history, and sc state history, apologia general science, math u see and we are just reading and using online stuff for literature and composition, spelling and volcabulary we are using edhelper.com We started out with learning adventures, but he got bored with it so fast.. i think it will work good for justin in a couple of years but for now we put it aside. How do you know if you are doing enough? Justin usually finishes up his copywork, math, science or social studies (we alternate days there) and phonics work in about an hour. he is 7. Jimmy usually finishes up in about 3 hours. I hope i am doing enough.

Sara, I missed this part of your message earlier. Take a look at my FAQ area in the Getting Started area. I think it addresses gaps and "doing enough". (If it doesn't, let me know and I'll talk more about it here.) I think all of us worry about not doing enough, especially when we first begin homeschooling.
