Hello my name is Jennifer Torres. This year is my first year homeschooling my daughter. She is in the second grade and the problem that I am having is she is just going through her daily schedule really fast and I don't know what to. Is there a certain amount of hours she is supposed to be doin her school work daily? She is finishing all of her work within 35 minutes. Please help me.

Jennifer, this isn't uncommon for younger students. Remember that a lot of time is taken up in regular classrooms with "crowd control", bathroom breaks, etc. Spending 30 minutes to an hour of one-to-one time with a child is equivalent to hours of regular classroom instruction.
There is no hourly requirement for homeschooling in SC, so don't worry about that. If you're covering the required subjects and want to do more, I'd suggest reading aloud to her, or reading together, watching documentaries on the educational channels, visiting museums, zoos, doing simple experiments, and other fun, hands-on activities.
I hope this helps!
Warmly,
Dianna

If she's going really quickly, maybe add a little more "fun" learning as Dianna said, as long as she's interested. You can move at her pace, and may be surprised to find that she's a little ahead of the normal public school classes. I'm new to homeschooling, too, with a pre-k son,so I understand the feelings you're having. (He is actually already working on some early kindergarten work, simply because he wants to.)
Welcome to the boards! You'll find lots of helpful, friendly people here! :smile2:
