Hi everyone,

We're planning trips to Italy and China in 2008 and I'd like to start raising money now for the children in each family to go. I'm going to talk to Boxtops for Education tomorrow to establish us with them, so hopefully that will bring in some funds. I'm also considering adding Google ads to my website, with all proceeds going to the scholarships. And last, I'm thinking about having raffles for homeschooling products. Do you anticipate any problems with these ideas? Can you think of any others? Ideally, I'd love to raise enough funds to completely cover the cost for each child to go, but I'll shoot for whatever we can get! What do you think?

Warmly,
Dianna

Going to China and Italy would be a dream come true! Of course, we would only be able to go on 1 of the trips as Vacation time from work is limited. I would love to help! Maybe we could do yardsales and have the proceeds go to the trips?? Or sale cookies or donuts? Just a thought. Or, maybe we can do something like the public schools do, they get into these companies that sale Christmas items, candles, etc? Let me know what I can do...

Gwen, anything like that would help - yard sales, etc. Families who do these kinds of things can keep the money toward their own trip costs. Children can babysit, cut grass, extra chores, etc, to help pay for their trips.

I'd rather stay away from the school-type fundraisers where we sell things. Those irritate even the most patient of us when we're confronted with them year after year. :confused2

Thanks for your ideas - keep them coming!

Warmly,
Dianna

Angie, that's great! You can sell them yourself and keep the money toward the cost of your trip (if you're planning on going on either one), or you can mail them to me and I can raffle them or sell them and put the money in the trip fund. Either way would benefit the children, and it's a start!

Warmly,
