How would one go about grading for penmenship and writing for a 3rd grader? I mean i know they are required for the state and my daughter does them but, how would i go about grading them? Were trying to make up a report card to see about where she is at on her subjects.:smile2: The other subjects i gave quizzes for, and some we she just did worksheets.
My daughter writes in her journal everyday and i like her to write some kind of story through the week..i know i could count these right?
anyways thanks for the help:wave:

Stacy, if you want to give a grade, then give a grade based on where your goals for writing/handwriting are this year. Is your daughter doing as well as you (and she) had planned? If so that would merit an A. If she's below that, then give a grade that reflects that.

I prefer not to give grades, so I just write a "progress report" listing topics/skills they've mastered or subjects they're making progress in.

If you prefer a report card format instead of a progress report format, but don't want to grade, consider using a Satisfactory, Needs Improvement, etc. grading scale.

I hope one of these strategies will be helpful to you. Let me know if you have any questions.

Warmly,
Dianna
