This is the time of the year when a lot of homeschoolers think about what they've done, what's worked, what hasn't, and where to go from here. Are you making any changes in your homeschooling now that you've had a (hopefully) long vacation with plenty of time to reflect?
As for my family, we're definitely going to expand our book list... we didn't read as much this fall as we usually do. What about the rest of you?

Yes, I'm definatley making some changes. This is our first year K5 and I've found that my child does not like book learning. So I'm trying to come up with ways to get around learning all requirements by not sitting at a table. She sits down for 5 minutes and starts dropping her pencil and sliding around in her seat and NOT learning a thing. Hope we get the hang of it soon!!!!

I am definately changing a lot of things. We started the year (2nd grade first year HS) off doing Abeka for everything. Well after a few months she was getting burned out with ALL the worksheets. Then thanks to Dianna and others I realized I did not have to do everything it came with. So starting a couple of weeks ago I pretty much dropped the Abeka and found stuff online. I got things off the Learning page website, it seems more interesting for her to base her learning around a theme, it makes it fun. I am still trying to figure out what other resources to use. I am still a little confused on what falls under the science and social studies parts if I am not doing a cirriculum. :confused2
I am sure we will figure it out. I just want her to enjoy herself while learning.
Thanks and Happy New Year to all.

What things are you working on? Maybe we can give you suggestions of non-sitting ways to do it. :smile2:

Melissa, whenever you learn something that's non-curriculum oriented just post a message here and we'll help you decide where to document it, and even translate it into "educationese" for you. Would that help?
