The Jewish Community Center in Columbia is once again offering a stroke clinic for homeschoolers.
This program is geared for swimmers who are able to complete one lap (25 yards) of freestyle and have a grasp of rotary breathing. Swimmers will work on all 4 strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) as well as starts and turns. The clinic is taught by a Red Cross Certified Swim instructor, who is also a homeschool mom.
The clinic meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:45 - 11:45 AM.
Cost is $25.00/swimmer for JCC members and $35.00/swimmer for non-members, per session. Sign up for one session at a time or sign up for all of them!
Session 1: January 7 - 30
Session 2: February 4 - 27
Session 3: March 3 - 26
Session 4: April 7 - 30
Session 5: May 5 - 28
The JCC also offers a stroke clinic in the afternoons, from 4:15 - 5:15 PM. M and W afternoon is Intermediate, for those who can swim one lap of freestyle. They will be taught the other strokes as well as starts and turns.
T and TH afternoons are for those who can complete 2 laps (50 yards) of freestyle and have a basic grasp of backstroke.
The JCC also plans to offer swim lessons for homeschoolers beginning in February. Tentative dates and times are Mondays and Wednesday at 9AM. Each session will run the same schedule as the stroke clinics (2 swim lessons per week for 4 weeks). Swim lessons are designed for those with little to no swimming skills, or those who need to refresh basic skills. Minimum age of 4 to enroll. Class size will be limited.
