Friends,

I’m writing to let you know about an exciting new organization aimed at training up young people. It’s called the Madison Youth Project (www.madisonyouthproject.com), a program designed to make young people more knowledgeable and effective citizens. Our mission is to promote conservative ideals, to raise up a generation prepared and positioned to lead tomorrow, and to elect candidates today who share our conservative values: and we want you to become involved.

Let me explain. First, the educational aspect. Many distance learning courses offered by colleges will cost you $250, sometimes even more. Some people can afford that, others can’t. What I’m offering with the Madison Youth Project Academy are courses taught by PhDs, but for only $25 per course (though in all honesty, with demand, the prices can, and probably will go up, so now is your opportunity to join at a lower rate). The first two courses that we’ll be offering on the Madison Youth Project site are “The Elements of Freedom” and “Founding Fathers and Founding Documents.”

“The Elements of Freedom,” will give students a solid understanding of the critical role freedoms play in strengthening society and sustaining our democracy. The American Founding Fathers established a firm foundation of liberty that continues to impact ideas and events around the world even today. How did the Founding Fathers develop their notion of liberty? This course will examine the Biblical and historical influences--from ancient Jerusalem and Athens to Magna Carta and the Mayflower Compact--that shaped the thinking of this profound generation. Dr. Robert D. Stacey will teach this course. An Associate Professor in Regent University’s Robertson School of Government, Dr. Stacey previously served as Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Government at Patrick Henry College where he taught the college’s flagship course, Freedom’s Foundations. Dr. Stacey received his B.A. in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania in 1991 and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Government at the University of Virginia.

“Founding Fathers and Founding Documents” will give students a thorough understanding of the founding of this great nation. What did the Founders believe about man, nature, God, & government? This course in American Political Thought will explore what the Founding Fathers believed in their own words. By examining the primary documents we will discover why the grounding of America begins with a proper understanding of the "Laws of Nature and Nature's God." Dr. Erik S. Root will teach this course. Having earned his PhD at Claremont, Erik has recently served as a Morris Fellow for the John Locke Foundation in North Carolina. Erik is now Assistant Professor at West Liberty State College in West Virginia.
These courses will begin January 21, and space is limited, so don’t procrastinate too long if you would like to take one or both of the courses this next semester. The best part about the courses is that when you join MYP, you get one of the courses for free (with the additional course being an additional $25).

In addition to the educational component, the Madison Youth Project has a political action committee that will allow members to go into real life campaigns. Though MYP just started, we've already had a huge success in our first MYPAC Team in KY where we helped elect Secretary of State Trey Grayson. A team of 50 made a huge difference in this important race and did an amazing job. A membership benefit of the Madison Youth Project is that members do not have to pay anything to participate in the MYPAC teams; all they need to do is be willing to campaign hard for good conservative candidates. In 2008 we’re hoping to have 40-50 teams all over the nation in targeted Senate and House races. There is also a possibility of a primary race effort this February in Maryland. Be on the look out as MYP is growing. We'll be sending out weekly emails to keep everyone updated.

The Executive Director of MYP is Robert Hogan and the Membership Director is Jessica Hogan. If you have any questions, you can email them at robert@madisonyouthproject.com or jessica@madisonyouthproject.com.

I’m excited about MYP and I know we are going to make a difference. Go to www.madisonyouthproject.com and sign up today.

Go with God,
Ned Ryun
