How many dads are doing the teaching? I have recently started home schooling my 5 year-old son , and I love it. I gave up a bountiful career to teach and instruct my son. I just wanted to know if I was alone , or are there more of us fathers home schooling. William J

Hi William, it's great to have you with us! There is another homeschooling dad here with a son around the same age as yours. His name is Shawn. I'll email him to see if he'll check the boards and respond. Welcome! :smile2:

Oh, I almost forgot, if you go to my resources and links page at: www.carolinahomeschooler.com/links.htm (http://www.carolinahomeschooler.com/links.htm) , and click on the homeschooling websites section, there's a link there for a homeschooling dads website. I hope you stick around here, too, but wanted to let you know that there's a website devoted to dads who are the primary homeschooling parent.

:smile2: my son and I are doing just great in home school. Life has been a little tough adjusting to staying home and not working. I used to tell my wife " You could do this home school thing " ,but with class , house cleaning ,and just every day things, well it has been tough. My wife and I made this decision for me to stay home and for her to work. I love this decision . I will write back later, and I still want to know if there are anymore home school dads out there.. There are some out there. More and more dads are getting interested in their kids and their lives. You will see it makes for better kids too. There would be alot less mess if dads stuck around.

William,

I'm a dad and I homeschool. My wife Kim does the majority of it but I help as much as I can (work full time). I would like to stay home with the whole family and homeschool but the bills would not get paid! I am actually working on a plan to reduce my time at work and increase my time at home but that will involve a career change.
