How many dads are doing the teaching? I have recently started home schooling my 5 year-old son , and I love it. I gave up a bountiful career to teach and instruct my son. I just wanted to know if I was alone , or are there more of us fathers home schooling. William J :biggrin2:

You are not alone. I am a home schooling dad. I have a 6 year old son and this is our second year. Next year my daughter will start.

I haven't met any hs dads around here, but I find them all over different message boards. I do have a friend who is sahd. He has 5 boys, the older 3 are now in school and he stays home w/the younger 2. He quit his job when the 1st child was born and does some plumbing work on the side at night and weekends. His wife is a ps teacher and he takes on more work in the summer when she's home.

Hi pegasus, where does the father with the 5 kids live? Anywhere around here?

How do you get the dad that interested? My dh loves my kids and me. No doubt. He works hard and provides well. But to homeschool, no. He may call out a spelling list every now and then but mostly that is all my job. It seems a burden to him.
