I have recieved Scotts package today. There is a pamphlet included with very little details on how to go about the day. It says that I dont have to include all four subjects everyday?? Is this true? I thought I read somewhere that I was required to give him four hours of math, science, social studies and language arts everyday???
CAn someone please give me a sample scedule??

The required subjects are reading (or literature), writing (or composition), math, science, and social studies; so there are five subjects (not four). Option 1 (registering through the school disctrict), requires parents to teach for 4.5 (or so) hours per day. That has nothing to do with Option 3 homeschooling. With Option 3, the parent decides how much time to spend on each subject. You can do block scheduling (science one semester, social studies the next semester, for example) or some every day.
I could explain in a lot more detail, but I think it would really help you to read through my FAQs at www.carolinahomeschooler.com/faq.htm (http://www.carolinahomeschooler.com/faq.htm) first. I've answered a lot of typical questions there and it would give you a better idea of what's required. Then just post here if you have any more questions or need help with ideas. :smile2:

Oh shoot. Ok, thank you. I see whee I got turned around here. I was reading on everything and feeling pretty frantic about getting Scott out of School as quickly as possible. I stayed up late way to many hours and got some of the info mixed togather. Thank you.

You're very welcome! The paperwork that the State Dept. of Ed sends out tends to be confusing, so what you've been asking are common questions. You're not the only one who has gotten confused. :smile2:

Try to relax and enjoy it. It can be hard to relax in the beginning. Especially if you are used to public school. It took me a while to get out of public school mind and get to being a homeschooler. LOL
