We are a military family, stationed in Charleston. My 12 yo 6th grader has had a horrible time at the public school here with bullying and teasing, and we hit the limit. Private schools are not really an option due to distance and cost and middle of the yr enrollment issues so I've decided to homeschool him.

I just submitted my registration for a homeschool association (PACESC).

My question is what next? The website said they send a Confirmation Letter and Family Membership Card. Do I just take these to his school to disenroll him, or is there more to it than that? Will his school need to see what cirrculum we'll be using or... anything?

Thank you so much for any help!

Hi Kaylynn, welcome to our forums! :smile2: All you need to do is take your membership information to the school and withdraw him from the school. The school does not need to see (nor is entitled to see) any of your curriculum. All you have to do is withdraw him, and then they have no further role in the education of your child.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Once I had my paperwork I just took them to school and brought her home with me. Ordered my books and while we waited we unschooled alot. Did worksheets, watched educational tv, and talked alot about things. When the books came in we started in full force but I have since tried to get away from the public schooling ways. It is hard to do that. To relax and have fun learning.
