Hi everyone,
I want to get your feedback about the possibility of educational group travel for homeschooling families sponsored by Carolina Homeschooler. I'm talking to several organizations about tailoring some trips for us to places such as New York City and Washington DC this spring. We'll tackle other, more distant, places later if these work out well.
So far the quotes I have for NYC & Washington are right around $1,000, but I'm still in the researching phase right now and may be able to get it lower without compromising quality. That price includes air fare, hotel, transportation to and from sites, site tickets, breakfast and dinner each day, guided tours, and a full-time tour director during the whole trip (3 or 4 days).
The Washington trip would include visits to places such as: the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Memorial, National Mall, Jefferson Memorial, Roosevelt Memorial, Washington Monument, Smithsonian Museum, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, National Gallery of Art, FBI Building, White House, Arlington National Cemetery & Marine Corps War Memorial, Senate & House of Representatives, Supreme Court, Kennedy Center, Ford's Theatre, and more.
The New York trip would include visits to places such as: Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, F.A.O. Schwarz, Trump Tower, Times Square, Grand Central Station, Empire State Building Observatory, Greenwich Village, East Village, SoHo, Chinatown & Little Italy, Wall Street, Stock Exchange, Ground Zero, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Fifth & Madison Avenues, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Central Park, the United Nations, and more.
I'm trying to gauge interest before discussing this further with them and negotiating for special accommodations and perks for us. If you would be interested in traveling as a group, please email me at editor@carolinahomeschooler.com (editor@carolinahomeschooler.com) and let me know how many in your family would be interested in participating, and where you'd like to go (choose between NY and Washington for now, and let me know if there are any other destinations you would be interested in for later). I'll save your email address and send you more information as ideas and plans become more focused.
Please feel free to share this information with other homeschoolers you know who may be interested.
Warmly,
Dianna
