Hi everyone,

Edited on 1/12/06: Due to popular request, we've decided to separate the trips to each city. The info in this thread is no longer accurate since we won't be combining the trips. Please read the Washington DC: May 25-28 thread instead.

I've been busy exploring options for our travel and was wondering what you thought about taking one trip that combines New York City with Washington DC. We'd go to Washington first, then to NYC, then return home from NYC. What do you guys think?

Also, I've found that the least expensive transportation for families will be via train. It would also probably be the most fun for the kids because they'd be able to gather and talk more easily, plus move around from time to time to release their energy. Bus trips would take roughly the same amount of time, but we'd be have less mobility. Plane tickets would be much more expenisive.

Let me know what you think. :smile2:

Warmly,
Dianna

I have a son(Austin) in 6th grade that I have just recently started homeschooling.
The trips to Washington and NYC sounds like a GREAT idea!! We are very interested and look forward to hearing the details as they are finalized.

Welcome to our forums, we're glad to have you with us! :smile2:

I'm so excited about this combined trip and should be able to finalize the details next week. I'm still waiting on a quote from the NYC hotel - hope to get that on Monday. I'll post information here, but please also join the Educational Travel mailing list, too, so you can get information via email (go to www.carolinahomeschooler.com/lists.htm (http://www.carolinahomeschooler.com/lists.htm) to subscribe). I'll need a headcount of everyone who is definitely interested in going very soon, so expect another announcement in this forum and via email next week.

Warmly,
Dianna
