Are you all doing any units or new studies? We are presently working on a Eli Whitney/cotton project and an Iceland project too.

We had lots of fun growing Triops. You can buy the eggs at Wal-mart for under $4 and there is a semester’s curriculum at www.triops.com for free. It's a 2nd grade curriculum, but could be easily modified for older children (bring in the scientific method, vary your growing conditions and theorize the results). We had tons of fun and it was pretty simple. Hint: buy a thermometer and have the kids record water temp.:smile2:

Is that the little sea shrimp that you could buy in comic books 30 years ago? They called them sea people.

Here are a couple of good unit studies we are beginning this week. I believe they will cover most instructional areas. We are going to work on them simultaneously and then end with a trip to the movies to see "Eight Below."

This is a 1600 mile dog sled race through the Yukon territory beginning Feb. 11 - there are many education activies on this website.

http://www.polarhusky.comThis is the site for the Go North: Artic Exploration - they have curriculum to go with this and you have the opportunity to actually chat with the scientists on this journey. It also begins in February.

:smile2: I just seen this post and I went to www.polarhusky.com (http://www.polarhusky.com) site and registered. I really think my children will totally enjoy seeing and learning all there is to learn about "going North". Thank you for the site.
