I am new and getting ready to home school my daughter for the remainder of the year. I have researched and looked at the site and seem to have a grasp on how to get started..Basically I join an association and get my curriculum..right? .I know it will be hard and I am already feeling a little overwhelmed. Right now, homeschooling is our only option...Any advice would help. This is my first time doing this...so please help is needed...My daughter is a junior...where can I find the books she needs and how hard is it to homeschool a high schooler?:doubt:

Hi, and welcome to our forums!

I don't know if you've had a chance to read through all of these forums yet, but there are quite a few High School Homeschooling messages in the Homeschooling Day-by-Day forum (listed right below this Homeschool 101 forum). I think that would be a great place to get a general idea of homeschooling your high schooler. Then let us know what specific questions you have and we'll be able to help you even more. :smile2:

Warmly,
Dianna

Thanks Dianna
I did read through pretty much all of the posts. I have a question
To complete the year, my daugher was taking US History, Math, English and Sociology...she also needs a foreign language. Any suggestion on how I should start her into home schooling? I am too nervous and want to make sure that she receives her credits these last couple of months and possibly more to complete the year....:confused2

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I'll have more time to answer your question later tonight or tomorrow.

The reason you didn't see your post immediately is because I moderate all messages in these forum to guard against spam and porn. Unless I'm online at the same time you are, I won't be able to approve your messages to be posted right then. They will show up eventually, though, as soon as I have time to get online.

I just wanted to let you know so you wouldn't worry that your messages were getting lost. :smile2:

I'll post more later to answer your questions.

Warmly,
Dianna

I understand about being nervous, especially when you're coming in with a high school student. Remember, though, that you count whatever she has already done in high school and then go from there. Since she was already taking US History, Math, English, and Sociology, would you like to continue with those? What foreign language is your daughter interested in? Do you want to add any other subjects? Do you have any resources yet? And last, have you chosen an association to join yet?

I know I've thrown a lot of questions at you, but having the answers will help me help you better. :smile2:

Warmly,
Dianna
