I need a judgment call. Jordan wanted to learn how to sew. We've been working on some simple projects (kool-aid handbags, tiered skirts, etc). Am I really reaching: or could I consider this part of school? We're bringing in lots of math with this. Please don't hesitate to tell me if you think I shouldn't

Absolutely yes! Don't even hesitate. This is Home Economics (or do they use a different term now?). If you'd rather incorporate it into other subjects, document it under any subject that will relate - math, reading (for reading and following patterns), social studies (if you discuss different periods in history that people have worn some of the clothing she creates or studies - tie-dye, bell-bottoms, etc. You wouldn't believe how many colleges incorporate just this kind of discussion in Pop History courses!).
That's my call! :smile2:

I have counted sewing as part of Ansley's days. We has made neck bone pillows, a small quilt, couple of purses, hair scrunchies, etc.
She has actually sold some of her neck bones.

Also my daughter took some sewing classes from the 4-H office in Greenville over the summer and at Christmas time. I don't know where you live but they do them every year.
