I have a 7th grade who has loads of trouble writing reports. Do you have any ideas? I have tried the spider web idea, cut pictures from magazines and had her write on each of them, etc. I am lost as to how to help her realize how to get her facts in order and put them in a good report.

Lorna, I really like the Wordsmith series. Go to my links page at http://www.carolinahomeschooler.com/links.htm and scroll down to the writing section. Click on the Wordsmith link to see samples.
What I've found helpful in my online courses is to break down each skill into smaller steps. See my post in the other writing thread for an example.

I liked "Writing For 100 Days"
Looking through old material, "Total Language Plus" had more writing than I remembered. It was fun writing assignments.
I have had the kids work together and write and preform Friday entertainment of plays. They brainstormed as a group. Wrote the play and did the setting scenery and preformed it on Friday as a family entertainment. They could write reviews on Monday. For that matter, they could do anything fun and write reviews in a family newspaper. Examples, new restaurant, plays, musicals vacation destination the list is endless.
I read recently that many homeschoolers are using blogging as a writing course. Creation is the key.

We like Writing Strands as it breaks it down in small steps for you. I'm going to try and hire an on-line writing coach for a short while this year........ I find writing to be sooooo subjective and I'd like outside input!
