Join us for our Leonardo Da Vinci field trip to Discovery Place to see the new Da Vinci’s Machines exhibit and participate in our Motors, Circuits, and Art workshop!
When: February 26
Where: Discovery Place, Charlotte, NC
Registration Deadline: Registration is closed.
Membership is required for this event.
Da Vinci’s Machines Exhibit
Featuring over 75 inventions reconstructed from Da Vinci’s illustrations and writings, the exhibit will allow us to test these amazing inventions for ourselves, from flying machines and war weapons, to diving gear and a self-propelled car. We’ll see iconic artwork and reflect on the work of a true visionary.
Motors, Circuits, and Art Workshop
Art is more than just a paintbrush and canvas. It can be made using batteries, motors, circuits and even DrawBots. Their Record Player Spirograph will draw attention to the close connection between math and art. (Depending on number and ages of students, we may have two workshops – one for elementary students, and one for middle and high school students.)
NOTE: This workshop is for students ages 8 and up (as of September 1, 2017). Younger students can join us at Discovery Place, but will not be able to participate in the workshop.
The timing of events will be provided later, but plan for a full day to include exhibit, workshop, and free time in museum.
Cost, Cancellations, and Refund Policy
The cost is $18 per student ages 8 and up, and $9 per adult and student ages 2-7. This includes admission to the museum, the Da Vinci exhibit, the workshop, and tax. Parking is an additional $12 per vehicle if you park in the museum’s parking deck (payable when you exit the garage). Children under 2 are free.
NOTE: Parents and children under 8 can’t participate in the workshop. I will chaperone the workshop and will give you a time to meet after the class.
Lunch is not provided, so plan to eat at the museum’s cafe (organic foods), bring your own food and drinks (I’ve reserved space in their lunch room), or there are plenty of restaurants within a block of the museum.
The museum does not give refunds for cancellations or no-shows. Your submitted registration form and payment acknowledges your understanding and agreement with my cancellation and no-refund policy for this event.
