Science Exhibits and Dissections

Virtual Science Exhibits - the Boston Museum of Science website contains many virtual science exhibits for children to explore - almost as good as being there.

Singing Science - this website provides MP3 versions of oldie-but-goodie science songs. These songs will help your children learn about space, energy and motion, experiments, weather, and nature.

Virtual Owl Pellet Dissection - dissect an owl pellet without special tools or a mess to clean up.

Light-Science Projects - this website contains many science projects suitable for kids. Also take a look at the other science topics.

Science Projects

Global Water Sampling - this is a collaborative project comparing the water quality of local rivers, streams, lakes, or ponds with other fresh water sources around the world.

Journey North - a global study of wildlife migration and seasonal change. The project welcomes students in grades K-12.

Science Magazines

Click - a wonderful science magazine for younger elementary ages, published by the Cobblestone Publishing group in conjunction with the Smithsonian.

Ask - a favorite science discovery magazine for older elementary to middle school students. Published by the Cobblestone group in conjunction with the Smithsonian, it covers topics in-depth and in an engaging way.

Muse - another favorite science discovery magazine for middle- to high-school students. Published by the Cobblestone group in conjunction with the Smithsonian, it covers topics in-depth and in an engaging way.

Odyssey - a wonderful science magazine for middle- to high-school students. Each issue centers around a specific theme.

ChemMatters - a chemistry magazine published by the American Chemical Society. Each issue brings chemistry to a more accessible level for high school students by including articles that are relevant to their lives. New subscribers can get a free copy of the magazine, plus a half-price subscription for the 2010-2011 school year by completing this form.

Your Big Backyard - a nature and wildlife magazine for ages 3-7 published by National Wildlife Federation.

Ranger Rick - a nature and wildlife magazine for ages 8 and up published by National Wildlife Federation.

Kids Discover - each issue of this magazine centers around one science, geography, or history topic. Articles are short in this publication since the pictures usually take center stage. Visually appealing, for children ages 6 and up.

Dig - a wonderful archaeological magazine for middle- to high-school students. Each issue centers around a specific theme.

Science Curricula

Choosing Science Curriculum - this webpage by Home Science Tools describes the different science curricula available to homeschoolers.

Apologia Science - a popular choice of science curricula among homeschoolers, from elementary level through advanced high school.
