The 22nd annual South Carolina Junior Duck Stamp (JDS) Art Contest has kicked off! This program combines science and art to teach K-12 students about waterfowl and wetlands conservation while reconnecting youth with the outdoors. Participants compete in four grade groups (K-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12) to create visually compelling and biologically accurate drawings or paintings of a North American waterfowl species. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners are chosen from each group and a South Carolina “Best of Show” will be selected to compete in the National Jr. Duck Stamp Contest alongside the other states’ selected pieces, where the winner becomes the next Federal Jr. Duck Stamp. Easily pairs with dynamic curriculum to meet standards. The deadline for all entries is January 10, 2014. For more info and to download the curriculum, please visit www.sewe.com/duck.php.
