Young Contemporaries 2014
29th Annual Juried Student Exhibition
opens - Friday, April 4th
closes - Saturday, May 3rd

Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, College of Charleston

Each spring, current College of Charleston students are eligible to submit their recent work to the Young Contemporaries, giving them an opportunity to have their work chosen by a nationally prominent juror and exhibit in a professional gallery setting. The annual exhibition shows off the brightest talents coming out of the College’s School of the Arts, including painters, sculptors, printmakers, and photographers. This unique show gives students the opportunity to learn how to prepare for future gallery exhibits and helps them to practice the type of professionalism necessary for success in such a competitive field. “The goal of the show is showing the best of the best, but also have it take on the flavor of what the students are producing at this point in time,” says last year’s juror, Scott Stulen. He continues, “It’s a little bit of a snapshot, in certain ways, of what’s happening within the College.” The Post and Courier calls the Young Contemporaries exhibit, “One of the highlights of the year.” This year’s entries are sure to impress.

Since the work that will be exhibited hasn't been created or selected yet, we can't produce a website with images. To give you an idea of what type of work may included, you can visit the webpages for the previous years.
