In honor of Black History Month, we will learn more about African Americans who have made lasting impressions on the lives of Columbians. Students will explore the legacies African Americans have made on both the physical and cultural landscape. By learning specifics of the Civil Rights pioneers who called Columbia home, students will glean new knowledge of the origins and events of the movement.
The cost is per student, with an accompanying adult free. Homeschool Fridays are $5 for members, $6 for non-members and $8 for both members and non-members at the door.

Join Historic Columbia on Monday, Feb. 19 for tours of the Woodrow Wilson Family Home: A Museum of Reconstruction to see how his time in Columbia may have influenced his decisions as President. Normally closed to the public on Mondays, there is no better way to mark President’s Day than by taking a tour of the only Presidential site in South Carolina.

n February 27, 1760, the 30-man garrison of Fort Dobbs engaged in a bloody, confusing, night-time skirmish with as many as 70 Cherokee warriors. This living history will give visitors a glimpse of what life was like for the soldiers and settlers seeking protection through on-going displays of camp life, as well as scheduled musket and cannon firing demonstrations.
$2 admission.  Saturday 9-5, with 6:30pm evening program. Sunday 10-3.
