Historic Columbia Foundation is pleased to announce Weddings and Courtship in the 19th century from 10:00am-11:00am on March 1st. Join us as we explore courtship and wedding customs of the 19th century. There was a very formal process for dating and marrying during this time period. Students will learn expectations assigned to women and men throughout this process. We will look at the role marriage played in the 19th century. Could women inherit property from their deceased husbands? What role did mothers and fathers play in this process as well? The program is designed for students 8-15 years old and costs $5 per child.
