Our Art History Field Study continues throughout the 2013-2014 school year. It combines academic study with practical application. Students will take monthly (or so) field trips to the Columbia Museum of Art for focused tours of the collections and then spend time in the studio applying what they've learned.
Older students (6th-12th) will learn about artists who were inspired by ancient civilizations and the Italian Renaissance, see how art and photography has evolved in America, discover how Japanese artists reinvented the Jazz Age, and more. Younger students (K-5th) will learn some of the same topics, plus art terms, concepts, materials, and the special portraiture of Richard Samuel Roberts. Each tour will be followed with hands-on projects in the studio.
