Historic Columbia Foundation is pleased to announce Cash Crops of South Carolina from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on April 5. Ever since South Carolina’s days as a British colony, residents have used her rich soil to grow cash crops to enrich the citizens of this state. Students will learn about rice, indigo, and cotton through a series of hands-on activities working with each product. They’ll also dye bandannas in indigo, learn how to card cotton, and take part in a fun activity using rice. The program is designed for students 8-15, and costs $5 each. For more information, please call 803.252.1770 ext. 36 or visit their website at http://www.historiccolumbia.org/.
