Representatives Brannon and Anthony are considering running against the current Superintendent of Education, Mick Zais, in 2014.

Brannon and Anthony were two of the sponsors of House Bill 3478 (Brannon was the main sponsor) that would have required associations to give the State Department of Education our student's names, mandated standardized testing for all homeschool students, and repealed the 3rd Option of the law by July 2014. Here's a summary of the bill: http://www.carolinah...o-go-from-here/

As quoted in The State (Columbia, SC) on July 13, 2013:

"Both say they are driven, in part, by a desire to combat legislative efforts to use public money to help families send their children to private school."

As we learned with their sponsorship of H3478, they're also driven by a desire to further legislate homeschooling families, who have no interest in using public money to educate our children.

The current superintendent, Mick Zais, stood with us publicly in our opposition to H3478. Here's his statement: http://www.carolinah...-for-education/

I won't speak for others or tell you what to think, but I'll be watching this closely to see if Reps. Brannon and Anthony follow through with their intention to run against Zais in 2014.
