This may be a crazy question, but it's late and I'm a frazzled homeschool mom of 4 :)...We are using Switched on Schoolhouse this year for our 5th and 6th grade kids.  The program does the grading, and it lumps reading, writing, and grammar into one grade.  Do I need to document writing and reading separately on the progress reports and portfolio?  Or should I just note on the progress report and portfolio that  lang arts is comprised of reading, writing, and grammar.

Laura, just note somewhere that language arts is comprised of reading, writing, and grammar and let it go at that. Keep a list of any books your students read and put that in their portfolio as part of their reading, and keep samples of their writing (essays, book reviews, etc.) for their portfolio, too.

Warmly,

Dianna
