I will be teaching a small group painting class for teens (ages 12-18). This year’s Jubilee will feature a head-lining performance from Cheri Maree, an international recording artist, songwriter, and author who brings “soul jazz” to the center stage. A multi-talented vocalist and musician raised in Columbia, S.C., Cheri’s eclectic sound and style have graced the stage with legendary Grammy-winning artists, including Patti LaBelle, Al Jarreau, Hootie and the Blowfish, and Brian McKnight. In addition, Jubilee 2017 will feature other performance from South Carolina musicians, demonstration artists from across the state, food/art/outdoor vendors, family-friendly activities and games, house tours of the Mann-Simons Site and the Modjeska Monteith Simkins House, bus tours of important African American sites in downtown Columbia, and more!
untilRedcliffe Plantation SHS presents a Spring Evening Open House: Art & Architecture. This two hours event features a special children's art tour at 6:00 pm. This tour is especially designed for ages 4 - 12 to teach children about art through color, shapes, symbols, history and other clues. Families can visit throughout the evening from 5:30 to 7:30 but the children's tour will only be held at 6:00 pm. The historic plantation mansion and slave quarters will be open for informal tours, artists will be painting on the historic grounds and light refreshments will be available. Crafts and other activities will be set up around the historic site. Admission is $10 for adults, $7.50 for SC seniors & ages 6-16 and FREE for ages 5 & under. Cash and credit accepted. Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site is located two miles outside Beech Island, SC within ten minutes of Augusta, GA and 30 minutes from Aiken, SC.
